Windows 7: Deleting, 3 hours remaining

Okay, I just had to post this:

Deleting, 3 hours remaining

Yes. Seriously. How is this possible? I’m just deleting some folders on my NAS…

Part of it has to do with network speed and the other part is the 10k or so small files. It always takes a long time to delete a large quantity of files regardless of overall size. When dealing with small files the overhead becomes huge on the drive movement. You will get the same kind of effect on a local drive too. Just not as severe.
